About City
Beijing, formerly Romanized as Peking is the capital of the People's Republic of China and one of the most populous cities in the world, with a population of 19,612,368 as of 2010. The metropolis, located in northern China is governed as a direct-controlled municipality under the national government, with 14 urban and suburban districts and two rural counties. Beijing Municipality is surrounded by Hebei Province with the exception of neighboring Tianjin Municipality to the southeast. Beijing is China's second largest city by urban population after Shanghai and is the country's political, cultural, and educational center and home to the headquarters for most of China's largest state-owned companies. Beijing is a major transportation hub in the national highway, expressway, railway and high-speed rail network. Beijing's Capital International Airport is the second busiest in the world by passenger traffic.
Weather/Climate in Beijing
Beijing is located in east of the Asian continent and the climate has obvious temperature differences. Beijing climate zone is usually warm , half moist continental monsoon with four distinct seasons. Spring time in Beijing is little dusty and windy. Spring time is short here and excursion is popular during that time. Summer time is also short and the hot weather will be compensated with plenty of rain. Autumn, which lasts around 50 days is the best time for tourism as the temperature is mild and sun appears warm to enjoy the weather. Coming to winter, winter here is usually long and cold , but the ice lantern shows and skiing still attracts many tourists.
Taking account of all the factors, Beijing is best to give a visit in Autumn (September and October). Just to remind, our conference falls in the middle of the August which will also a good time as autumn is just around the corner. Autumn in Beijing will have clear sky and the best air quality which is also called the "Golden Season". Travelling in "May" is also considered good choice if you can accommodate your schedule.

Beijing is also the academic capital in China as is the home for many of the internationally acclaimed universities as such Peking University and Health Science Center, Peking Union Medical College, Tsinghua University, Renmin University, Beijing Normal University, China Center for Advanced Science and Technology, and more.
