G. Sivakumar holds a BS in 1994, an MS in 1996, and a PhD in 2001. He joined the Arkansas Biosciences Institute at Arkansas State University faculty in 2007. He is the author or co-author of over 40 peer-reviewed journal or book chapter publications. He is a pioneer in industrial-scale liquid-phase bioreactor for root culture at huge scales and linking research with multinational pharmaceutical industries. He is on the editorial board of the Journal of Nanomedicine & Biotherapeutic Discovery and Journal of Bioprocessing & Biotechniques. His research group is currently focusing on industrial technologies for therapeutic management of cancer using effective natural stereoisomers of the unique anticancer molecules and planning directions for the future potential new medicine.

Sivakumar’s lab is currently focused in two major industrial research areas: A) Natural anticancer drug development, and B) Renewable bioenergy. Both researches are collaborated with multinational pharmaceutical and energy industries. Our long term goals are to build on the innovation and discoveries of: 1) plant-made potential anticancer medicine, while preventing side effects; and 2) to develop a next generation clean alternative energy and hydrocarbon sustainability. Sivakumar’s lab provides a unique opportunity to explore pharmaceutical and energy research.

He has completed his M.Sc.in Marine Biology and Oceanography from Centre of Advance Study in Marine Biology,Annamalai University, India and subsequently worked for a brief period in shrimp feed company and sea food processing company as Microbiologist. Later, in 2000, he has joined in Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (ICAR), one of the pioneer institutes in marine fisheries to pursue Ph.D. After completion of his Ph.D he was awarded Japan Government Fellowship and spend three and half years in Osaka Prefecture University, where he was later awarded 2nd Ph.D. degree in the field of marine/environmental Biotechnology. In 2008, he returned back to India and joined Central Salt and Marine Chemicals Research Institute (CSIR) as Scientist (Fellow) in Marine Environment group.At present he is working as Scientist E1 (Senior Scientist) in the same institute

Study the diversity of environmental bacteria especially vibrios in coastal and marine environment. Study the interaction between coral and associated bacteria. Develop rapid and accurate method to identify ecologically/clinically important bacteria. Study the disease causing mechanism of bacteria to aquatic organisms and their possible prophylactic methods.  

He is presently serving as a director of Biomedical Engineering Program in College of Graduate Studies, SUNY Downstate Medical Center. MAIK W. JORNITZ is the founder of BioProcess Resources LLC. With close to 25 years of experience, Mr. Jornitz supports the biopharmaceutical industry on a world-wide basis, in particular in validation, integrity testing, membrane filtration of air and liquids. As Chair of PDA, Jornitz has been part of multiple PDA task forces, committee member and chair. He is also member of ISPE, DIA, ASTM and ALSAC. Jornitz is the author and co-author of close to 100 professional papers. Additionally he is author and co-author of 9 books and 7 book chapters on membrane filtration, integrity testing, validation studies, regulatory requirements and single-use technologies. As faculty member of PDA TRI and Compliance Online, he trains industry members and regulatory authorities on a frequent basis. He holds close to 30 patents related to integrity testing, single-use processing and filter housing designs. Mr. Jornitz received his M.Eng in Bioengineering at the College for Advanced Technology in Hamburg, Germany and accomplished his PED at the IMD Business School, Lausanne, Switzerland.

Peter Orji Uvere joined the University of Nigeria, Nsukka as a Lecturer in 1993 and is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Food Science and Technology. His University education started as a Microbiologist, but he had his PhD in Food Science and Technology. His research interest is in the application of malting and fermentation techniques in the processing of complementary foods, indigenous beverages in Nigeria and cassava.  Biography
